I just love getting plain items for a low price and making them look more fancy. You get to put your own touch on it and it becomes a unique item that probably would not be found in any store, how cool is that?
So, I went out and bought a plain little ole card table with no intention of fixing it up; I was just using it for odds and ends during craft time. HOWEVER, it was just so … ugly! Not to mention the fact that I hated the look and feel of the black vinyl on top. After checking the table out to see how easy of a makeover it would be, I went ahead and made it pretty! Guys, this is so easy! Check out my step-by-step tutorial below and re-do your plain table!
BEFORE | AFTER
Materials needed:
- 1 yard of fabric
- 1 yard of 8 gauge clear vinyl [Jo-Ann Fabrics]
- Staple gun + remover
- Glue gun [optional]
- Screw driver
THAT’S IT!
Steps:
- Take the top of the card table off by removing the screws underneath. KEEP THESE! The top should pop right out after the screws are off.
- Remove black vinyl by popping off all of the staples underneath. There were A LOT of staples on mine, so this step was tedious, but that is the only thing holding the vinyl on!
- After removing the black vinyl, put your desired fabric on the top and pull tight around the edges. You can staple the fabric or hot-glue it onto the board. I did a little of both!
- Next, do the same with the clear vinyl. I used only staples for this.
- Cut off excess and reassemble!
Easy as 1, 2, 3! Now you have a fabulous card table to show off or keep to yourself!
